It’s Spring Fling planning time again!!
We’re meeting on Tuesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Joy Fireside Room to continue planning for the 3rd annual Joy Spring Fling. We are looking for people who have energy and ideas to continue to grow the potential for this all-church event. We are looking to get everyone involved this year! Craig Orf and Alan Klein will be co-leading this year’s event so you can contact them with ideas as well. Please join us at the meeting if you can.
AED Training
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training at Joy will be on Wednesday, February 8, 1:00 p.m. Joy recently purchased and installed an AED in the narthex. A class is being offered to train interested members of the church and community on how to operate the device. This training will be about 2 hours long and is being offered free of charge by Prescott Emergency Medical Service. No prior medical, first aid, or CPR training is required. These machines are now installed in many public buildings in our community. This is great training for non-medical people to help in the event they encounter someone having a heart attack. An evening class will be held later in the month, date TBD. Any questions, contact Dan Olson at 715-262- 4150.

CHURCH LIBRARY NEWS
ATTENTION KIDS OF ALL AGES!! Did you know Joy has a library? The books and
movies aren't just for your parents and the old people. There are shelves filled
with good reading for all ages.
Truth Unplugged, Real Answers for the Tough
Questions Teens Ask by Jim Burns. The sub-title is “Straight Talk about
Life, Love, and Faith”. Here are a few questions in the book: Is it justifiable
to beat up this bully?
Every time I quit drinking or doing drugs I lose
friends. What does the Bible say about body piercing and tattoos? Is saying
‘Oh, my God!’ a sin? Why does God let things like murder happen? Can you help me
stop hating myself and wishing I was never born?
Narnia, The Lion Witch
and The Wardrobe - Lucy’s Adventure adapted by Michael Flexer for ages 7 and up.
Is an easy read chapter book based on the movie. This a good introduction to the
C.S. Lewis Narnia series,
which is also in the library, for young readers.
What Happens When I Talk to God? (The power of prayer for boys and girls) by
Stormie Omartian.
Preschool and early elementary, a good parents ‘read to me’
book.
The Secret Arrow by Alyce Bergy. A story of David. Easy reading for
elementary age kids.
We have several titles of ARCH books, which are all
based on Bible stories.
Please Stop Laughing at Me by Jodee Blanco. A true
story about being bullied and taunted. John Bradshaw, author of the New York
Times bestseller Homecoming writes "This book could save your child's life. It's
a must read for parents, educators, and everyone concerned with the health
and well-being of our children.”
If there is a special book or DVD we are missing, let us know. Anyone wishing to donate Christian fiction,
non-fiction, resource and children's books, Bibles, books on tape, DVDs, CDs, there is a donation box in the
library. Donations of money can be left with the office. The library does not have a budget line in the church
budget and relies on your donations.
Thank you.
